About Us
On this page you will find out all about us - who we are and what we race.
Our Name - Why are we called Triplebrew Racing?
Easy! It is a combination of our two main loves: Triple - the number of cylinders the gorgeous Triumph Trident has and Brew - to signify our love of beer (in particular Belgian brews).
Our Racing Career
We began our racing careers in 2005. The idea of racing had been discussed many times over a pint or two whilst marshalling at various classic meetings. We sought and eventually found a machine that we could afford in late 2004 and a deal was struck. This first year saw quite a few disappointments with non finishes and even a few non starts! However we kept at it and ended the year having obtained 8 signatures towards our Clubmans licence. 2006 saw us again compete with the CRMC and we quickly earned our last 2 required signatures. Again, sadly, we suffered a couple of DNF's and the season was cut unexpectedly short when the primary chain snapped and the crank shaft was damaged.
For 2007 we have had some serious changes made to the engine, the main one being an increase in capacity from 850 to 930cc. We will detail our progress on the Latest News page as the season develops.
About our sidecar
The outfit that we race consists of a rigid (no rear suspension) chassis built by Colin Rides in the late 1960's / early 1970's and is based on his own design and ideas. It features a short wheelbase and we find it handles very well. It allows us to carry high corner speeds and suits our style very well. The engine is from a 1972 Triumph T150V Trident which has many modifications and enhancements to keep competitive. This is fed by three Amal carbs that in turn receive fuel from an electric pump with an inline pressure regulator. The exhaust system is a one off hand crafted system by Gibson exhausts ending is a silencer of our own design made by our good friend and marshal Buster. Ignition is controlled by the excellent Tri-Spark unit and the brakes are discs to all wheels with AP lockheed callipers.
You will find a more detailed description about the outfit in the specifications page.
