July 2010

This has been a busy month with us racing at Anglesey with the CRMC and returning to the circuit the following weekend for the Beezumph Rally. We have also had a repair done to the fuel tank following a leak that occured at the CRMC meeting.Whilst this was being done the opportunity was taken to improve fuel supply by fitting and internal pipe to ensure the oick up was always covered. We also took the opportunity to have the frame reapir that was done at the same meeting checked and a small reinforcment strut was added for good measure. The engine also had some work done in the form of the clutch and primary drive being stripped, checked and refitted. The original front brake caliper was also stripped and cleand and found to be from a Mini car rather than the usual racing type and had a dust seal as well as the piston seal. This was found to be very perished and the metal retaing clip badly coroded. Once removed everything was cleaned and then put back together with new seals. Following track use at Beezumph has hown this has finally cured our sticking brake problem!

June 2010

With the season well underway now we are having a lot of fun and things are very much going in the right direction. At the last CRMC meeting we finished all 4 races entered for the first time in a long while and all 4 resulted in top 10 places too. We have also been over to France to the stunning Croix-en-Ternois circuit for the Trophee Gerard jumeaux meeting and had a great time. The outfit ran extremely well and with the very warm weather and large turnout of otfits it was very encouraging to be among the quicker machines. Sunday saw a wet circuit and also a slight reduction in the number of teams out on track. We went round on the warm up lap ready to wind it on as we came round the last corner, expecting the pace car to pull in as is normal, to find everyone lined up on the grid as per a race start! We were at the very back and as the flag dropped shot of through the field working our way into the top 10 before the first corner! We made great progress through the field and were in second by the end of the first lap! As we headed around the 3rd hairpin on lap 3 we took to the front and never looked back! Although this was not a race meeting it provided a huge confidence boost and we leant a lot more about passing people and how to ride circuits - a lot of which we must thank Mike Richards of MR Equipe for.

We are still having problems with a sticking front brake so wil be fitting another one before the next meeting in an effort to cure it. The engine is also having a mid season checkover by Richard Darby of 3D Motorcycles. The weekend after the CRMC meeting at Anglesey will see us return to the venue for the TR3OC Beezumph Rally.

March 2010

This month we have been busy making final preperations to the outfit ready for the first race meeting at easter. We have taken part in two test sessions at Mallory Park and had some great fun. The latest one saw the outfit performing very well and has shown that the changes made to the brakes and front suspension have made a big difference. The engine is running very well and it was great to be back out on track.
All the bodywork has gone off to be painted ready for the start of the season so we can look our best!

28th April 2010

We attended the weekly afternoon test session at Mallory Park as a final shakedown test ready for the CRMC meeting on Sunday 2nd May. We had a new gear lever assembly to try as well as a new fuel regulator and changes to try out. The first session went very well and it was clear the new gear lever was a great improvement with much better gear selection. The handling was also much better with the new pressures. As the afternoon went by a few tweaks were made to the fuel pressure regulator to increase the fuel flow. It also became clear that there was a problem with the gearbox as gear changing was getting difficult and along with the odd missed gear the outfit also jumped out of gear a couple of times. We ended the day making arrangements to visit Richard Darby to have a look at the gearbox. Once the gearbox was taken apart the problem was clear to see - have a look at the picture below! A replacement 3rd and 4th gear were required but fortunately that was the extent of the damage.
