Triplebrew Classic Sidecar Racing Team

The Sidecar

For the 2011 season Triplebrew racing are having a brand new sidecar built to race. The new chassis is being made for us by Mike Richards of MR Equipe.

The chassis will be built by our good friend Mike Richards of MR EQUIPE who will be making a bespoke chassis to take our engine. Mike is also making a new exhaust system, fuel tank and oil tank. We will also have all new bodywork and an all new brake system. The team will be using the same Triumph Trident T150 engine as they have done since they first started. Grant dropped the engine off to Richard Darby of 3D Motorcycles , in October and Richard will be doing a general check over and getting the engined cleaned following a hard seasons racing in 2010.

Chassis Details

The chassis is made from T45 tube and tig welded that offers a combination of strength and light weight. The brakes used are discs to all wheels with AP Racing calipers. The front brake lever operates one caliper on the front wheel whilst the rear brake pedal operates the caliper on the rear wheel, the caliper on the sidecar wheel and two caliper's on the front wheel. The wheels are 10" all round with Yokohama A032R tyres fitted. Front suspension is by Hagon shocks and the rear has a single Avo unit.

Our Previous Sidecar

Our previous chassis was created in the late 1960's by a man called Colin Rides who lived in Cheshire in the late 1960's. He made the bike to his own design and raced it himself for a few years. Originally the power was supplied by a Triumph twin engine and the front wheel was a larger 16" item. Over the years the outfit has seen continual development to keep on the pace. These changes included the fitting of a Triumph Trident 3 cylinder engine and a smaller 10" front wheel in the 1980's.
